Independent study helps kids graduate

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Academy for Individualized Study High School is an accredited full time HS. It's located in the Vegas PBS building along with the Virtual High School.

Students complete their coursework through an independent study model. They receive one course a month. They study at home and check in with their teachers weekly.

Pascaline Yedinak is a senior who went to Bonanza part of her freshmen year but had a hard time learning in the classroom, "It was harder to focus at Bonanza. It's just easier for me to focus by myself without kids around talking." She says doing her coursework at home, and not just watching a teacher explain things makes a world of difference for her.

Students have to log their study time and are assigned school work that's specific to their needs.
