LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The rumors have been floating around for weeks and on Monday came the official announcement.
Oscar Goodman is getting his own reality show.
The former Las Vegas mayor, who never shied away from cameras during his three terms in office, will be the star of "Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman."
The pilot for the series will be taped Nov. 18 at the Elvis Presley Showroom in the Las Vegas Hilton, and will feature "real court cases and a gallery filled with celebrities and Las Vegas notables," according to a news release.
As always, producers plan to find room for Goodman's famous showgirls and his love of gin.
Might we suggest a sponsorship? "Vegas Night Court with Oscar Goodman" brought to you by Bombay Sapphire?
Goodman is no stranger to the Hollywood experience. He's the most popular mayor in the city's history and portrayed himself multiple times on film and television, most recently on an episode of "CSI."
Now he's teamed with Jerry Kupcinet, a veteran producer-director whose credits include "Judge Judy," "Judge Joe Brown" and "Cristina's Court."
It remains to be seen, however, if Goodman's appeal can reach beyond Las Vegas, especially with the syndicated market crowded with court shows, including one starring Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass.
