LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Members of the Westboro Baptist Church, a homophobic hate group known for protesting the funerals of U.S. soldiers, found themselves outnumbered by a counter-protest at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Tuesday.
The Kansas-based Westboro group announced their demonstration following the shooting of Nevada National Guard members at an International House of Pancakes in Carson City.
Its members blame the gay and lesbian community for the killing of soldiers and routinely claim "God hates America."
But their message was contrasted Tuesday by dozens of students and residents carrying signs promoting non-violence and acceptance.
The Westboro demonstration lasted about 30 minutes before the group disbanded.
