It's time to pick out that perfect Christmas tree.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Caliente Field Office is now making tree-cutting permits available.
You many only harvest pinion pine and juniper trees. The cutting of all other trees is strictly prohibited.
Permits can be purchased at the field office or through the mail. Permits are $4 each with a limit of five per purchaser.
The field office is located at 1400 S. Front Street in Caliente. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Mail-in requests will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through Nov. 18.
Trees may be harvested on all BLM-administered public lands except those designated as wilderness.
