Chace Stanback (LVMPD)
University of Nevada, Las Vegas basketball star Chace Stanback will serve a one-game suspension after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of marijuana.
Stanback, a senior, was arrested in May after being pulled over at Swenson Street and Colby Avenue.
He received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty and will have to perform 40 hours of community service, attend DUI school and pay a $585 fine.
"I regret the decision that I made and I apologize to everyone who cares about UNLV and Runnin' Rebel basketball," Stanback said in an article on the UNLV Athletics website.
"I made a terrible mistake. I have learned a lot about myself through this process and I hope people are willing to forgive me," he added.
The 21-year-old transferred from UCLA to UNLV after his freshman year and became a standout player on the Rebels squad, averaging 10.7 points per game last season.
