HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
The Henderson Police Department has partnered with an online community watch program to arm residents with up-to-date information and online tools to help protect their neighborhoods.
Henderson Police is planning on using the AlertID - My Neighborhood online program.
AlertID uses the latest online technology to create instant, two way communication between residents and their neighbors as well as police.
Henderson Police is the first law enforcement agency in Southern Nevada to provide this crime prevention tool to its residents.
"I would encourage all Henderson residents to sign up for this free online service that can truly help keep our neighborhoods safer," Henderson Police Chief Jutta Chambers said.
Using the unique AlertID system, residents are constantly connected to neighbors, and local as well as federal and state agencies, to exchange critical information that can help keep their family and community safe, whether the threat is national, local or personal, such as a missing child.
Nearly real-time information is provided from the Henderson Police computer-aided dispatching to the residents to provide reported criminal activity in their neighborhood.
Residents can receive emails and text messages notifying them of crimes in their area. Information about registered sex offenders is also available through the website.
For additional information or to sign up for the free online service, go to AlertID.com.
