A Las Vegas student gets quite an honor and is headed to Washington, D.C. for what may be the time of her life.
Stefania Cotei is one of just 98 young women attending the 65th Auxiliary Girls Nation from July 23 to 30. Two outstanding citizens, known as "senators," are selected at the 49 Girls State sessions across the county to represent their respective states.
The girls, who regularly participate in mock senate sessions, will listen to distinguished guest speakers and visit the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, the White House and other Washington, D.C.-area memorials.
The trip to Capitol Hill will include meetings with respective senators and representatives. They'll even get the opportunity to meet with President Obama.
The American Legion Auxiliary was founded in 1919 and includes nearly 850,000 members across the nation.
