LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The University of Nevada School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine and Las Vegas physicians plan to volunteer their time and offer pre-participation physicals for high school student athletes.

The event is designed to give affordable physicals after normal clinic hours to Las Vegas teens wishing to participate in high school athletics.

Physicals exams cost $20 per athlete and it is recommended that participants arrive early with appointments being on a first come first serve basis.

They physicals take about 15 minutes and a parental guardian must be present.

Student athletes will be evaluated for height, weight, vision, blood pressure, pulse rate and an orthopedic screening followed by a medical history and complete physical exam.

The physical exams will take place on Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at Canyon Springs High School and Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. at Sierra Vista High school.
