The Nevada Department of Wildlife is cracking down on drinking and boating this weekend at Lake Mead.
"Operation Dry Water," a joint effort between the agency, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the U.S. Coast Guard, will see a larger law enforcement presence on the lake.
Boaters face jail time and stiff fines if they are operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level that exceeds .08 percent.
Boating under the influence is a contributing factor in nearly one in five boating fatalities nationwide, according to the NDW.
The operation will also include increased patrols at Lake Mohave, South Fork Reservoir and Lake Tahoe.
