Jon Castagnino is thrilled to be working in his hometown of Las Vegas, and to be a part of FOX5 -- both in sports and in news.
He's one of the few true Vegas natives. Jon is a graduate of UNLV and Green Valley High School. He remembers a time in the Valley when a drive to Red Rock Canyon seemed like it "took forever" -- before the days of the 215 -- and the Boulevard and Meadows where the only two malls in the city.
Jon feels at home covering stories in what he calls the, "best sporting events city in the world." Championship boxing, UFC, NASCAR, UNLV and USA basketball are among his favorites, but he doesn't mind getting into the not-so-ordinary events like the Beer Pong World Championships.
His favorite moments at FOX5 have been a sit-down interview with Magic Johnson, making Manny Pacquiao sing and hall of fame coach Bobby Knight teaching him how to properly tie a tie.
Jon worked at television stations in Casper, WY and south Texas before joining the FOX5 team in 2008.
Since his return home, Jon married wife Tiffany, adopted daughter Tayler and his son Giovanni was born in February 2013.
Away from the studio, Jon spends as much time as he can with his family. He also "tries" to play golf, is a terrible handicapper and his wife says he could take some lessons in home improvement.
Jon also volunteers time to local organizations the Quiet Storm Foundation, Goodie Two Shoes Foundation and his church.
You can see him anchoring sports on the weekends, including FOX5 Sports Plus Sunday nights and reporting news during the week.
Jon can be reached via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
