Heidi Hayes joined FOX5 in March 1998.

Before coming back home to Las Vegas, Heidi was an anchor/reporter at KSNF-TV in Joplin, Mo. She did her time as a "one-man-band" - shooting, writing and editing her stories, which was often a tough gig, considering the station wasn't computerized. Heidi learned not to make many mistakes typing stories on an old typewriter.

Heidi began her career in college producing and anchoring a daily news magazine for KBYU, the PBS affiliate in Provo, Utah. It gave her the experience to land an on-air job after graduation. Her goal was to work for a station in her hometown, and it didn't take long.

A native of Las Vegas and a graduate of Valley High School, Heidi received a degree in Communications/Broadcast News from Brigham Young University. She calls Las Vegas the greatest city in the world and can't understand why anyone would want to live anywhere else.

Although she enjoyed working in other cities, being able to come back home and represent her community doing the work she loves is a dream come true.

Heidi is married to FOX5 News This Morning Meteorologist Ted Pretty. They have two children, Jack and Kinsey.
