DA 'Very Angry' With Deputy's Arrest 3-21-2011

After Clark County's deputy district attorney was arrested this weekend on drug charges, District Attorney David Roger said there wasn't any indication attorney David Schubert was smoking crack cocaine.
"A prosecutor who knows how dangerous drugs are could possibly -- allegedly -- make that first choice to smoke crack cocaine," Roger said.
Schubert, who prosecuted the high profile drug cases of Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars, was arrested Saturday evening after a traffic stop near Lisbon Avenue and Cambridge Street.
Schubert, 47, will be fired from his position as one of the county's main prosecutors if he doesn't resign, Roger said.
When Roger received the call telling him of Schubert's arrest, he said he was "very angry."
"I put a great deal of trust in him," Roger said. "We're not an organization that circles the wagons. We have zero tolerance for people who break the law."
FOX5 legal analyst Bob Massi said that cases Schubert was currently assigned to could be affected, but not those he already tried.
"If there was a conviction, there was a conviction," Massi said. "If there was an acquittal, there was an acquittal, because it's a jury trial."
Schubert has been with the district attorney's office since 2002. Investigators are waiting on blood tests to see if Schubert had any drugs in his system at the time of his arrest.
