Criminal charges have been dropped against a Nye County Sheriffs detective who was accused of corruption by the countys embattled district attorney.
District Attorney Bob Beckett, who is currently facing charges of embezzlement, accused Det. David Boruchowitz of harassing political candidates and their families. Beckett filed a second set of charges after a judge dismissed the first criminal complaint.
Now, Boruchowitz has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
He released a statement Friday afternoon thanking those who have supported him during the ordeal.
"I will continue serving and protecting the people I have sworn to serve with a renewed confidence in the justice system," he said.
Beckett, a Republican who lost his re-election bid in Junes primary election, filed the charges while on bail.
He is accused of siphoning money from an account in his offices to various causes supported by friends and family.
While on bail, Beckett was also arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he was found behind the wheel of county-owned vehicle outside the Pahrump home of former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss.
