Elizabeth Watts - FOX5 Vegas - KVVU

Elizabeth Watts

Elizabeth Watts joined FOX5 in March 2010.

If she looks familiar, that's because she's no stranger to Las Vegas. A graduate of UNLV's Journalism Department and a resident since childhood, Elizabeth provides a unique "local's perspective" in her broadcasts.

Between anchoring and reporting she covers everything from breaking news, politics and the economy, to health issues and those fun features you can only find in our 24-hour town.

One of her most memorable moments was anchoring the night U.S. Navy Seals stormed the compound where Osama bin Laden had been hiding out. His death and the Seals' triumph was one of the most-viewed news stories of the time.

In 2012, Elizabeth was awarded an Emmy for anchoring FOX5's Team Coverage of the death of Indy Car driver Dan Wheldon who died October 16, 2011, after a crash at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Prior to arriving at FOX5, Elizabeth worked as an anchor and reporter at KYMA-TV in Yuma, AZ, and a producer at KSNV-TV here in Las Vegas.

When she's away from the newsroom you might find her at the Thomas & Mack Center, cheering for her Runnin' Rebels, or on a hike with her husband at Red Rock Canyon. She also loves spending time with her three young nephews.

Even though she's a "local" by Las Vegas standards and considers it home, Elizabeth is a native Texan and roots for America's team - the Dallas Cowboys. She's also probably the biggest Beatles fan you'll ever meet.

If you'd like to send Elizabeth a note or story idea you can email her at ewatts@fox5vegas.com.
