Blue Jays Sign Agreement With 51s
Designated Hitter To Be In Effect At Cashman Field
The Dodgers have left town, and now Las Vegas has ties north of the border. The Toronto Blue Jays signed a two-year affiliation agreement Monday to showcase their players on the 51s team.Monday afternoon it became official. The Blue Jays are leaving Syracuse after more than 30 years of AAA baseball and said they're going to bring winning baseball to Las Vegas.Because Toronto is an American League team, the designated hitter will be in effect at Cashman Field, meaning more offense for fans to watch. The 51s and the Blue Jays think this is a good match, and that it's the fans who like watching baseball at a high level who will come out on top.The 51s name will stay the same for one more season. Because of the late change in affiliations, there isn't time for a name and logo switch. That will happen after next season.
