LAS VEGAS -- O.J. Simpson's long-time friend and co-defendant took the stand Tuesday, but it's what happened toward the end of the day that caused a lot of controversy.Judge Jackie Glass allowed the attorney for the Goldman family to take the stand in the trial. She said she would make a decision on whether he will be allowed to testify in the case Wednesday."Did the Goldmans seek everything from Mr. Simpson -- yes," said Goldman attorney David Cook.Cook represented the Goldman family in the civil case against Simpson following the double murder trial. He said he flushed out all assets from Simpson.Earlier in the trial, Yale Galanter, Simpson's attorney, called for a mistrial. He said Cook's testimony would be irrelevant and prejudicial.C.J. Stewart's attorney requested another motion to sever his case from Simpson's, because Cook has nothing to do with Stewart. The judge took a break and dismissed the jury for the day. She returned and put Cook on the stand to be questioned by all sides. But before that, Charles Ehrlich, the fourth co-defendant to cop a plea deal, admitted the deal probably saved him from a lifetime in prison.“O.J. just introduced me to this guy and wanted me to do this favor. You've got to understand,” Ehrlich said.At times his testimony was a little foggy and some might think it contradicted what he said on Monday when he stated Simpson yelled, "Put the guns down."Ehrlich said on Tuesday there was never any discussion with. Simpson about guns being involved nor any discussion about anything illegal happening.Ehrlich said he has not been the same since suffering two heart attacks since the incident. He said he had been a friend of Simpson's for several years. “Yes, I had second thoughts, but I was doing a friend a favor," Ehrlich said.If and when Cook takes the stand, he is not supposed to express any personal views toward Simpson. For more information on the Simpson case, visit the case's special section or view the national coverage.
