Darren Peck
FOX5 Chief Meteorologist
Darren was the first weather anchor ever hired by FOX5 back in 2002 and he’s been providing Southern Nevada with accurate and engaging forecasts ever since. In March 2008 Darren became one of only a few hundred TV Weather anchors in the country to earn the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal (CBM) from the American Meteorological Society. Darren is also the proud owner of 2 EMMY awards for his work since coming to FOX5."Most people think I’ve got it made being a weatherman in Las Vegas. 'Hot and Sunny' is the running joke I have with people I meet on the street. But when excessive heat warnings need to be explained in a way to make people take notice or when flash flood season becomes a reality and not just an awareness campaign, I’m reminded just how important this job is."Before coming to FOX5, Darren forecasted for the Orange County NewsChannel in Southern California where he grew up. His first on-air job was in Flagstaff, Arizona with KNAZ, the NBC affiliate in Northern Arizona.
Darren loves the outdoors and when he’s not at the station, visiting a school or attending a public speaking engagement, you can usually find him on a hiking trail somewhere in Southern Nevada. "Mount Charleston is a favorite spot of mine."
