Vegas Marks National Fix A Leak Week

1 Trillion Gallons Wasted Annually Through Leaks

The Southern Nevada Water Authority is asking homeowners to inspect their properties this week and make sure they haven’t sprung a leak.

It’s part of the agency’s National Fix A Leak Weak effort, an attempt to cut down on an estimated 1 trillion gallons of water that is lost annually due to leaks in plumbing and irrigation systems.

Homeowners can spot leaks by turning off water on their property and checking their water meter. At the top of the meter is a triangle, called a flow indicator, which will move whenever water is passing through the meter. Motion suggests there is a leak.

More information about conserving water and checking for leaks can be found on the SNWA Web site.
