LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas couple is facing numerous criminal charges, including murder and child neglect, after the death of a 3-year-old child earlier this week.

The boy’s mother, 29-year-old Elizabeth Stack, had been investigated by Child Protective Services twice in the last four years but had never been charged with a crime.

Police said those investigations didn’t involve her boyfriend, 23-year-old Jesse Parsons, who is accused of beating her son with a metal object or wooden paddle as a form of discipline.

An autopsy found the boy suffered severe bruising to his head and the majority of abdomen and lower body, along with internal injuries.

Parsons is also accused striking Stack’s other six children, and police said Stack was present during several of those incidents.

Stack’s children have been taken into protective custody. She is charged with child neglect and second-degree murder by child neglect.

Parsons is charged with murder by child abuse and child abuse.
