Kwasniewski, 55, appeared to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to FOX5 sources.

"On behalf of the Hard Rock We are extremely saddened by the loss of Randy, and our hearts and prayers go out to the family. We do not know any further details at this time," said Dorian Cantrell, Director of Public Relations for the resort.

Fred Kleisner, CEO of Morgans Hotel Group, which owns the Hard Rock, issued a statement saying, “I’ve known and worked with Randy since 1995. He was not just one of my colleagues and a leader of our company he was my friend."

"I know I speak for everyone when I say we all mourn his loss. Randy was a dedicated husband and father, a friend to many of us, and a valued colleague. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family,” Kleisner said.

According to his biography in BusinessWeek, Kwasniewski began his career with Hyatt resorts in 1974 and later worked for Doubletree and Wyndham hotels.

An executive with more than 30 years experience, Kwasniewski served as the vice president of operations of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino from January 2004 to May 2005, overseeing all hotel, food and beverage, retail and employee operations.

He was appointed president of Hard Rock Holdings, LLC, in October 2006.

The Las Vegas property had recently undergone a massive $750 million renovation and expansion project. That included the opening of the new HRH tower in late January.
