Latino Rights Group Raided By Metro Police
Director Of LULAC Accused Of Bilking Immigrants

LAS VEGAS -- The League of United Latin American Citizens’ office and the home of its director were raided on Wednesday, police said.Metro’s criminal intelligence section served warrants for nine felony counts related to theft and burglary charges at the LULAC office at 765 N. Nellis No.5, and at Rene Orozco’s residence. Mr. Orozco is the state of NV director of LULAC, a national organization advocating Latino civil rights and opportunities within the Latin community.Police said there are several victims who have accused Orozco of failing to help them after they gave him money for assistance with citizenship and criminal defense issues. Most of the victims are undocumented or are facing other citizenship issues.Any residents who feel they have been victims of Orozco are urged to contact their local Metro substation. Police said intelligence detectives will follow up on any claim with respect to past victims of Orozco. Detectives said they are concerned with the possibility of other crime victims, not with the citizenship or immigration status of those reporting crimes.
