LAS VEGAS -- ARIA will open Wednesday night, and then the largest phase of CityCenter will open at 11:50 p.m.Video:
Aria-TouchscreenARIA is a hotel that wants to give guests an experience they won't get at other places. That’s why each room in ARIA has technological gadgets.Everything in the room is set to the guest’s preferences and can be adjusted with one simple remote.“What they've done is incorporate technology from the locks to the drapes. Every part of the guest experience is part of the automation,” said Will West, CEO of Control4.Salt Lake City-based Control4 is behind the technology. From something as simple as the light and temperature settings to how you want to wake up, the options seem endless.“If you want to wake up with the lights coming on over a 15-minute period and listen to light jazz and sleep in a cold room but wake up in a warm room, you can set these preferences very simply on the screen,” West said.Everything is done through one remote with the television or on a touch screen by the bed. Guests in some rooms overlook McCarran Airport, and they can connect through the system to the airport’s departure board to see if their plane is on time.Once you have stayed and set a profile, it's locked in. So the next time you check in, you have a customized room before you step foot in the door.“They would match your guest identity with your profile. So when you arrive, the thermostat is set to your preferences, the whole settings are yours, the music is set to what you prefer,” West said. It’s being called one-touch simple.“The technology takes it to a whole new level,” West said. The automation is eco-friendly, cost effective and energy efficient. The system is also available in homes. The universal remote for the automated system costs $495 with extra costs for features like climate control and drapes.
