LAS VEGAS -- Magician Steve Wyrick’s show has vanished from the Las Vegas Strip, according to published reports Friday.Wyrick, who was set to perform last night at his theater inside Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops, never took the stage. FOX5 attempted to contact the magician, but our calls were not returned. It’s unknown many people worked for Wyrick or when they were notified the show was closing.Wyrick’s run at the property began in 2007 at the $35 million theater that bears his name. The closing caps a chaotic year for the performer, who gained a reputation performing dangerous stunts.Or, at least, that’s what many audience members were lead to believe.Over the Fourth of July holiday a crew member was injured working on Wyrick’s “Death Drop” stunt outside the resort. The magician was thought to have been locked in a trunk that was to be raised over a bed of spikes. But the stunt was stopped when a stage curtain accidentally caught fire.As crew members rushed to put out the fire, a helicopter landed nearby and Wyrick stepped out unharmed, leading many to believe the magician’s secret had been exposed. In an interview with FOX5 after the mishap, Wyrick would not say who was in the box or where he was when the fire started. He later sued the pyrotechnics supplier, claiming breach of contract and negligence.
