TOPIC: Lied Animal Shelter

RANT: About a month ago we adopted a dog from the animal shelter. He was 6-months-old and perfect for our family of four. We had this dog for four days. On the third day he started vomiting and we called a number of vets who told us it sounded like parvo. I was told to take him back to the shelter to have him tested for parvo. So, we did just that. While we waited for the test,I was told there were no vet facilities there to treat him and the only option would be to have him put to sleep. I have two young children who we promised a dog for Christmas. Now, we can't have one because no matter how well I clean and disinfect my house, the parvo will still be there. I want to know why this dog couldn't have been tested before being placed for adoption and I also want to know what happens to the other dogs that were around him while he was there. He was there for four days and we had him for four days. That means he got it while he was in their care. From what I understand, it takes five to seven days to show signs of parvo. I also want to know if we have another outbreak at the animal shelter. Our dreams of having a puppy are ruined but I hope that this helps others to have the dog tested before you bring it home, so you don't get attached like we did.


TOPIC: North Vista Maternal-Child Center Closure

RANT: I find it in very poor taste that during these difficult times concerning the job market in Nevada, that North Vista Hospital closed their Maternity Ward and didn't let any of the employees know in a formal arena. Some of the employees found out from watching the news! As of right now there still hasn't been any official announcement to the group of nurses and support staff as a whole from the corporate office, even though it is a fact that the maternity staff will be losing their jobs! Nice employee relations, very unprofessional and disheartening -- no guidance offered as to future options.


TOPIC: New City Hall


NAME: Brian


RANT: A new City Hall! Is Goodman serious? I don't care if the project is supposed to be funded by bonds, it's still ridiculous, especially with city employees getting laid off. Is this really the right message? Face it, Oscar, your legacy has already been set. Your will be remembered for three things: regularly making inappropriate, off-color comments to both children and adults; being the only Mayor that I've ever seen regularly swilling gin in public like it's water and boasting about his drinking; and not really having done a damn thing for the city of Las Vegas. Why did it take Harry Reid to come down and save CityCenter? Just another failure, boob!

TOPIC: Danger At Spring Valley Community Park

RANT: I e-mailed about a week ago concerning the litter conditions at this otherwise beautiful park, but now things are worse. While walking my dog this morning, I saw lots of broken glass along the walk path, as well as chicken bones all over the ground. I had to pull a bone out of my dog's mouth when she found one and started chewing on it. So now people don't even care if an innocent animal gets injured from walking on glass and choking on chicken bones? I would hate to think that some of the students at Spring Valley High School located next to the park are responsible for this disgusting behavior!


TOPIC: William V. Wright Elementary School

RANT: I pick up my granddaughter from school five days a week at 3:30 p.m. and when I go to pick her up, there are no crosswalks, no crossing guards, no school police -- and lazy people park along the clearly marked and painted red fire zones and in a clearly marked zone that states No Parking At Anytime. Many times these people are double parked and triple parked and the school has done nothing about this huge problem. This is a tragedy just waiting to happen. I guess it will take a child being killed before something is done.
