Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will cut the ribbon at the “official” opening of the Golden Nugget’s new Rush Tower Monday afternoon.

The tower was opened to visitors Friday, but the pomp and circumstance were scheduled after the weekend.

Landry’s Restaurants, which owns the Golden Nugget, spent $150 million to construct the new tower at the corner of First and Carson streets, adjacent to the landmark Fremont Street resort.

Rush Tower is the latest piece of a $300 million ongoing expansion project that began after the property was purchased by Landry’s in 2005.

It features 500 guest rooms, new restaurants and a 75,000 gallon tropical aquarium that can be viewed from the lobby.
