LAS VEGAS -- The Metropolitan Police Department on Saturday lost a second officer in a week, police said.A Metro corrections officer died early Saturday morning when his van crashed, just two days after Metro Officer Trevor Nettleton was shot and killed in his own garage in North Las Vegas.The crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 just outside Searchlight.Officer Daniel Leach was headed to Laughlin and died instantly when he hit a 10-wheel truck, police said. He was the only occupant of the van. The truck driver was not injured.
