LAS VEGAS -- Unlike the Las Vegas Strip, a new hotel does not debut every few years on Fremont Street. But one downtown property is expanding despite the recession. The Golden Nugget will debut its $150 million Rush Tower Friday night, the latest piece of a $300 million ongoing expansion project that began after the resort was purchased by Landry’s Restaurants in 2005.While the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will not be held until Nov. 23, casino patrons will be allowed inside the Rush Tower this weekend. It features 500 guest rooms, new restaurants and a 75,000 gallon tropical aquarium that can be viewed from the lobby.
