LAS VEGAS -- A FOX5 source said the man suspected of killing an off-duty Metro police officer is being treated for injuries at University Medical Center’s trauma center.

The man is believed to be suffering from a gunshot wound following an early morning shootout with the officer at his home, although police would neither confirm nor deny those details.

North Las Vegas police suspect several people approached the officer in his garage and the shootout was the result of a botched robbery. No arrests have been made.
