Construction Resumes At Tivoli Village

Projected Soft Opening In 2010

POSTED: 2:02 pm PST November 6, 2009

After months of delays that left a massive steel skeleton sitting dormant on the city’s west side, the sound of work crews can be heard again at Tivoli Village at Queensridge.

It’s a welcome sound, and one that could signal signs of life for the valley’s beleaguered construction industry.

Tivoli Village, across from the Suncoast resort and Queensridge Towers, broke ground in 2006 before the real estate market went bust.

It had been touted as the west side equivalent of Town Square and The District in Green Valley, a mixed-use development of retail, restaurant, office and entertainment space.

But developers said the economic climate forced construction to halt last December, leaving only the frame of the structure on display as a morbid reminder of the recession.

With crews now picking up the pace, Tivoli has a projected soft opening date of December 2010.
