LAS VEGAS -- Nearly 8,000 Nevadans may qualify for the extended 14 weeks of jobless benefits under a bill signed by President Barack Obama, according to the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.Video:
Unemployed Say Stress Helped By Benefits ExtensionMore than 190,000 are currently unemployed statewide, according to the agency, while Nevada’s jobless rate stands at a record 13.3 percent.Survey: Have You Or Someone You Know Lost A Job In The Last Year?Jobless numbers for October are due later this month.The benefits extension bill, signed Friday, provides another 14 weeks of benefits to all out-of-work people who have exhausted their benefits or will do so by the end of the year.
