Foster Kids Get Homes On National Adoption DayThursday was National Adoption Day, and dreams came true for many children in the Las Vegas Valley. Most of them have been through the foster care system and have finally found their homes.“How she takes care of us -- big hugs all the time,” said adopted child Charles Brown.Related Link: National Adoption DayCharles and his brother, Carrington, now have it all -- a real home and a mother who loves them.“They’re going to be great. Charles here is good with puzzles. He’s going to be a surgeon or something really great, and he loves to play basketball or football. He’s going to be my football player,” said adoptive mother Carole Brown.Brown said she has been a foster parent for the past 20 years. She said she knew there was something special about these boys and decided to make it official.During National Adoption Day, they became her sons.“It feels great, just great,” Brown said. The 78 children were adopted by 49 families, so a lot of people were doing exactly what Brown did -- adopting siblings.Brown said she's also in the process of adopting a daughter who currently lives in her foster home.By the end of the year, Clark County will have completed 400 adoptions, but there are still hundreds of children who need a permanent, loving home.
