‘Adoption Day’ To Unite Children, Families

POSTED: 8:28 am PST November 5, 2009

More than 80 children are expected to find new families Thursday during a ceremony marking National Adoption Day in Las Vegas.

Family Court judges will conduct adoption proceedings in the atrium at Clark County Family Court in Las Vegas.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of National Adoption Day, a national day of celebration for adoptive families and an opportunity for courts to open their doors and finalize the adoptions of children who have previously resided in foster care.

In Washoe County, 23 children will become part of "forever families" when their adoptions are finalized during ceremonies Nov. 21.

Since 2000, more than 25,000 children have had their adoptions finalized on National Adoption Day.
