Stimulus Boosting Education, Health Industries

Web Site Tracks Impact In Nevada

POSTED: 3:22 pm PST November 3, 2009

Despite breaking unemployment records with each passing month, the federal stimulus is saving and creating jobs in Nevada.

That’s according to the state’s new stimulus Web site, which lists how funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is being spent.

Education jobs appear to be the most affected so far, with the ARRA credited for creating or saving more than 4,000 in Nevada.

The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation is also benefiting from the stimulus. The agency has been the busiest during the unemployment crisis as it has worked to assist 190,700 people who were out of work in September.
