LAS VEGAS -- If you got a boot, someone is giving you back the loot.FOX5 continues to get feedback concerning cars getting booted across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel, and now the casino is giving back.
Hard Rock To Give $200 Vouchers To Those Who Got BootedFor the owners of the parking lot across the street from the casino, it's business as usual. If motorists park there and come to the Hard Rock, they can legally boot your car to the tune of $200.The Hard Rock Hotel said it doesn't agree with it. In fact, officials there said if you got booted, they'll give you your money back.“We basically are offering people a $200 credit if they've been booted during the month of October,” said vice president of marketing, Phil Shalala.Shalala la is calling the offer Boots for Bucks.
Cars Getting Booted Near Hard Rock“If they come in and show us the actual boot receipt as well as the ticket that they got -- can’t be Xeroxed, has to be the original -- they come in, and they can get a $200 credit to be used at the Hard Rock,” Shalala said. The only restriction is that the vouchers cannot be used for gaming. Shalala said the two sides of the street have been sharing customers for years, and booting is no good for anyone.“We're putting a lot of money into the neighborhood and to get a boot on your car, it's really kind of obnoxious,” Shalala said.“I felt that was very inappropriate to insinuate that and to call it obnoxious,” said Boot-It owner Paul Draher.Draher said he has no problem with the vouchers but feels they're coming at the expense of his company's reputation.“You know, I think it's a very generous thing that they're doing. I wish it had been done under circumstances not so damaging to us,” Draher said. “We're here on this property to make sure these tenants have adequate parking for their customers.”Jeffery Buntrock said he had his car booted in the lot about a week ago. When hearing about the voucher, it still did not seem to take the edge off of his frustration.“Yes, it’s a nice gesture on their part, but as I said before, it's not a long term solution to the problem,” Buntrock said.He had a different solution for the owner of the parking lot.“He should go into the paid parking business rather than the enforcement, intimidation, extortion,” Buntrock said.To get the $200 voucher, go to the casino cage with your paperwork. The vouchers will be good until the end of the year. The boot company said it is getting bigger signs for the lot.A new restaurant in the shopping center said it will have to resort to valet parking only for their customers and rope off a section of the parking lot if the parking problems continue.
