LAS VEGAS -- In the wake of another Metro officer’s death in a car crash where it was found he was not wearing a seat belt, a Las Vegas Strip entertainer and mother of eight is speaking out.Marie Osmond has announced she will share her insight on why she supports the use of seat belts and child car safety restraints from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday outside the theater at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino where she and her brother, Donny, perform nightly.Survey: How Should Metro Police Enforce Its Seat Belt Policy For Officers?Marie is also the honorary chairperson for the 3rd "Step Out for Safety Walk" on March 27. The goal of the walk is to gain support for the passage of a Primary Seat Belt law during the 2011 Nevada Legislative session, the Adam Thomas Health and Safety Foundation said. The law would allow enforcement officers to stop a vehicle and issue a citation when the officer observes an unbelted driver or passenger.Related Link: Primary Seat Belt Law.Marie said she speaks out about this preventable cause of death, because education, awareness and stronger laws will save lives and health care costs in the state, the Foundation said.
