Valued at $470, the organization is asking those who accept the memberships to make a tax-deductible donation or volunteer with the YMCA, although there are no obligations.

The unemployment rate in Las Vegas is currently 13.4 percent, slightly higher than the record state average of 13.2 percent.

State economists said more than 84,000 jobs were lost in the last year, with 60,000 of the losses in Las Vegas.
