LAS VEGAS -- Record unemployment, endless foreclosures and a crippling state budget crisis may have all factored in Las Vegas' ranking near the bottom of Children’s Health Magazine’s “100 Best Places To Raise A Family.”

The magazine’s debut issue lists Las Vegas at 92, just ahead of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tampa, Fla. Detroit was ranked at No. 100.

Editors considered more than 30 factors in ranking the survey, including crime and safety, education, economics, housing, cultural attractions and health.

"I have four wonderful children. They're married to wonderful people. Wonderful grandchildren, good friends -- this is a great place to raise a family," said Mayor Oscar Goodman.

Burlington, Vermont, was ranked No.1 on the magazine’s list.
