A former Boulder City teacher will go to trial next year on child pornography and sexual assault charges.

Court officials said the March 15 trial date was set this morning for 46-year-old Charles “Rick” Rogers. He is being held on $1.3 million bail at the Clark County Detention Center.

Rogers was arrested in March after Henderson Police received an anonymous letter that contained several electronic storage devices. Police said the letter accused Rogers of producing child pornography saved on the devices.

A police report accused Rogers of videotaping sexual acts with children who “appeared to be unconscious or sleeping extremely heavily."

"Rogers was observed performing fellatio on young boys, and some other inappropriate sexual acts he was performing on them," said Boulder City Police Chief Thomas Finn.

Rogers, a teacher at Garrett Junior High School, is charged with 64 counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of use of a minor in production of pornography, three counts of lewdness with a child under 14 and two counts of sexual assault of a minor under 14.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
