A Valley child was in serious condition Friday night after being hit by a car.

The collision occurred at about 6 p.m. near Simmons Street and West Carey Avenue.

North Las Vegas investigators said the child was riding his bike when he veered in front of a car.

Police said the child is said to be about 10 to 12 years old.

"He wasn't paying attention, wasn't obeying laws for riding his bike, and hopefully, everything will turn out well," said North Las Vegas police Sgt. Randy Carter.

Police are investigating but believe the driver is not at fault.
