LAS VEGAS -- Fewer meetings and lower attendance at two large conventions drove Las Vegas visitor numbers down again in May, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.The agency said the number of visitors dropped 5.8 percent, to nearly 3.2 million people. The agency said some 565 fewer meetings and conventions came to town in May, pushing meeting attendance down 33 percent.Fewer visitors also resulted in less revenue for Strip casinos in May. The state Gaming Control Board reported Thursday that the Las Vegas Strip saw revenues of 480.8 million, a 6.4 percent decline from May 2008.Overall, Nevada casino revenues fell 8.3 percent in May compared with the same month last year.
