LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas is marking the 10-year anniversary of intense flooding that killed two and caused more than $20 million in property damage following a summer monsoon thunderstorm.Clark County Regional Flood Control District officials said a massive network of retention basins, channels and underground tunnels makes the region better prepared today for similar storms. But they said there is still work to be done.There are 82 detention basins and 515 miles of flood channels and underground storm drains throughout the Las Vegas valley. Over the next several years the Flood Control District plans to build 329 new channels and 57 new drains.
