Vegas MJ Fan Club President Goes To Memorial

FOX5 Viewer Gives Ticket To Fan Club President

It could be called the hottest ticket not in town. Dozens of Las Vegas Michael Jackson fans are heading to Los Angeles.

The public memorial for the King of Pop will be held at the Staples Center Tuesday.

The president of Jackson's local fan club was one of the people readying for the memorial.

Just like most people who tried, Raquel Choyce received a message saying, “Sorry, your registration ... was not selected."

That changed Monday afternoon.

Even in death, Choyce is the fan she's been for decades. She’s on her way to Jackson's memorial -- without tickets.

“This is so great that you guys are able to do this – wow," Choyce said.

Thanks to a FOX5 viewer, who couldn't make it to the memorial for personal reasons, Choyce is getting a chance to witness history.

“We're still in shock. We don't really believe it. It's like we have to be there to actually face the reality of it. Because to me, I'm watching him on TV and watching all these things, and it just seems like someone's trying to sell me a story, and I'm still not getting it,” Choyce said.

Online registrations for Jackson memorial tickets numbered 1.6 million. But only a little less than 9,000 received tickets.

That's why the tickets are selling on eBay for as much as $25,000.

“I don’t think anyone should profit off someone's death. It's sick. There are so many fans that are crying and devastated,” Choyce said.

It's that ardent support that has the Los Angeles Police Department scrambling to keep things secure at the Staples Center for Tuesday's public memorial.

The department has urged fans to stay away if they don't have tickets – but that’s probably not going to happen. Fans said his magic is never ending.

EBay is doing its best to take down the listings that are not legitimate. Either way there will be some people out there who will profit, because they can't stop everyone.
