LAS VEGAS -- Many people will be making their way to the pools this holiday weekend, so Las Vegas Metro police are warning all parents to keep a close eye on their children. This week alone, the Valley has lost three toddlers to drowning. On Thursday, 24-year-old mother, Raven Gibbons, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Police said she left her 5-year-old developmentally-challenged daughter alone in a bathtub, and the girl later died.Metro police said whether it's a pool, a spa or a tub, children and water can be a deadly combination. And some parents are just not getting the message.“We have driven this point home excessively, and people are still not paying attention to their children. And this is the result,” said Capt. Vincent Cannito. :The most frustrating part of this is that every one of these deaths is preventable.”Cannito said even with all the warnings, Metro will probably see another drowning or near drowning before the holiday weekend is over.
