LAS VEGAS -- Two toddlers have died in four days after being pulled from Las Vegas area pools. In both tragedies, there were no barriers to prevent the accidents. But there is a unique way to protect children around pools. On Sunday, a toddler was found in a family pool near West Flamingo Road and South Jones Boulevard. Two days later, the child died.On Tuesday, there was another near drowning near North Decatur Boulevard and West Ann Road. Police said that tot also died from pool-related injuries. One way to prevent these tragedies is to have a pool safety net.“If a child falls in face down, they won't fall into the water. There's almost a half-foot between the net and the water,” said Randi Jensen.Jensen said she bought the Katch-A-Kid net when her daughters were a little younger. But even though her children and nieces are now old enough to stand on it, she said the extra protection makes her feel better.“They can actually walk across this. It's like a huge Spiderman's web, so I love it, because I know that they're going to be safe,” Jensen said.“The net is going to be so tight you can't actually get your hand underneath it. A 500-pound person can walk on this net, and it won't even sink,” said Lori Judd, of katchakid.com.With more than 40 near drownings in the Valley so far this year, police said something the Katch-A-Kid or a fence around a pool could make the ultimate difference. But they said the most important thing is close supervision.
