NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- A North Las Vegas fire captain has been indicted on arson charges in a scheme the Nevada Attorney General described as “owner give-up” insurance fraud.Gary Stover reported his vehicle was stolen from a local gas station. It was later found burned in a desert area west of the 215 Beltway. Stover filed an insurance claim and was paid $35,000.Authorities said Stover and another man, Francisco Robles, set the fire.“This case is especially surprising because the person charged is someone who is entrusted with protecting the public against the dangers of fire,” said Attorney General Catherine Cortez-Masto.Stover’s indictment includes felony charges of arson, insurance fraud and theft.
