A Las Vegas woman accused of burning a 3-year-old boy with a curling iron will remain in jail until she can post $20,000 bail.

Tina Ciccheti, 28, appeared in court this morning as attorneys argued over child abuse charges and the second degree burns found on a boy she was babysitting.

Although Ciccheti has no criminal record, a prosecutor said she cannot be trusted around children and was once accused of leaving a child inside a hot car. The public defender dismissed those claims and said Ciccheti is not a threat to the public.

Ciccheti was arrested after the 3-year-old’s family discovered two burns, one on his left foot and another, approximately 5 inches by 5 inches, on the back of the boy’s neck.

FOX5 spoke exclusively to the boy’s mother, Rebecca Rampa, who suspected the abuse had been going on for some time. She said the child has shown signs of fear around her own curling iron.

“I pushed the button to turn it on, and he froze. He panicked. The look on his face I've only seen in horror movies," Rampa said.
