LAS VEGAS -- The family of a man killed in a Las Vegas DUI crash said it wants justice after the suspect escaped.James Corrao died after being hit while riding his motorcycle on East Tropicana and Titanium avenues March 19.His family said they didn't deserve to lose their father and husband to a DUI, and they certainly shouldn't have to go through the pain of knowing that the suspect is nowhere to be found.“He was a great man, a hard worker, a loving man,” said widow, Deborah Corrao.Corrao and her son, Jesse, are still grieving over the loss of their husband and father. A man who loved motorcycles was killed while riding his bike when he was allegedly struck by a drunken driver.“God woke him up long enough for him to take off his helmet and tell me he couldn't breathe, because he always told me he was afraid to die alone,” Corrao said. And now the man who allegedly caused that crash is gone.Soon after the crash, 52-year-old Carlos Henriquez was ordered by justice court Judge Tony Abbatangelo to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet and was released on no bail -- even after witnesses, including Deborah Corrao, who said she saw Henriquez attempt to flee the scene of the collision that killed her husband.“He floored it. He turned that corner and floored it. I watched everything,” Corrao said.Henriquez was supposed to appear back in court on April 17, but never showed up, and it was learned that Henriquez had removed his alcohol monitoring bracelet.Corrao said she was devastated all over again.“We were all stunned. I kept looking around going, 'Where is he? Where is he?'” Corrao said.Sandy Heverly with Stop DUI said it's up to the judge's discretion as to the terms of release, but she wants to see all felony DUI offenders locked up.“Especially someone who made an attempt to flee the scene -- to me, that would be a clue that this person would not be a good candidate to be trusted,” Heverly said.“I want him to pay. I want him to stand up and be a man and pay for what he did to my husband,” Corrao said. The pain for her is only made worse by the fact that without her husband she said she can't afford to stay in her home.Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Henriquez is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
