LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Metro police said two children were found by themselves inside a car parked near Flamingo Road and Jones Boulevard.

The children, a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old, were taken from the car by officers and checked out medical personnel. Police said neither was suffering from any heat-related injuries despite temperatures that reached close to 100 degrees this morning.

Police did not say where the children’s parents were and there was no immediate word on any arrests or charges in the incident.
