LAS VEGAS -- The University of Nevada, Las Vegas athletics department will lose $1.8 million from its upcoming budget as lawmakers look for ways to solve the state’s financial crisis.

A representative with the school confirmed the budget cuts Wednesday, but did not say how it will affect UNLV’s various sports teams.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that each individual sport would be forced to cut between 10 percent and 12 percent from their operating budgets.
