LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas woman has been charged with felony child abuse after a newborn she was caring for wound up in the hospital.Deborah Hill, 51, and her 16-year-old son were arrested Wednesday, less than a week after a 3-month-old girl was rushed to University Medical Center for what was described as severe dehydration and diaper rash. The newborn and her 8-year-old brother were placed in Hill's custody after the boy accidentally swallowed five pills of Xanax that belonged to his biological father. He told FOX5 the boy showed signs of abuse, including belt marks on his back.Investigators would only say the children had injuries consistent with child abuse. An attorney for the children's mother, April Gould, told FOX5 that the children should have been placed with their grandmother and he wants Child Protective Services to be held responsible for Hill's actions.
